Ensure injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment operate stably, safely, and meet quality requirements; perform operation, setup, parameter adjustment, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance to maintain continuous production, minimize downtime, and reduce scrap rates.

ELECTROMECHANICAL TECHNICIAN & INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE OPERATOR

Department: Production / Engineering
Reports to: Production Department Head / Plant Manager
Workplace: Go Dau, Tay Ninh
Employment Type: Full-time
Working Hours: According to production schedule and plant shift arrangements

1. JOB OBJECTIVE

Ensure injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment operate stably, safely, and meet quality requirements; perform operation, setup, parameter adjustment, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance to maintain continuous production, minimize downtime, and reduce scrap rates.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Injection Molding Machine Operation and Setup

  • Operate injection molding machines according to production plans and technical standards.

  • Set up and adjust machine parameters suitable for each product and material type.

  • Monitor and control parameters: temperature, injection pressure/speed, holding pressure/time, back pressure, cooling time, clamping force, and cycle time.

  • Perform machine startup, shutdown, product code changeover, mold change, and setup according to procedures.

  • Inspect products at the beginning of the shift, after mold changes, or after parameter adjustments.

  • Coordinate with QC to control product quality during production.

  • Record parameters, output, product defects, and any arising issues.

Troubleshooting and Process Optimization

  • Analyze and resolve common defects such as: short shots, flash, burnt plastic, air bubbles, flow marks, shrinkage, warping, dimensional inaccuracies, color or surface defects.

  • Adjust molding parameters to stabilize product quality.

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Mold, and QC departments to identify root causes and propose solutions.

  • Monitor and optimize molding cycles to improve productivity and reduce scrap rates.

Maintenance and Electromechanical Troubleshooting

  • Inspect and maintain injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment according to schedule.

  • Inspect electrical systems, motors, control cabinets, sensors, heaters, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, pumps, valves, motors, and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, dryers, and autoloaders.

  • Diagnose and resolve basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.

  • Perform repairs and replace components/equipment when necessary.

  • Coordinate with suppliers/external maintenance units for complex issues.

  • Monitor maintenance plans and propose solutions to reduce downtime and improve equipment stability.

Material, Mold, and Equipment Management

  • Inspect raw materials before production; ensure correct plastic type, color, and mixing ratio.

  • Control drying conditions and material storage.

  • Monitor the condition of molds, machinery, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Coordinate cleaning of machines, hoppers, barrels, and production areas as per regulations.

Safety and 5S

  • Comply with regulations on occupational safety, electrical safety, and machine safety.

  • Use full personal protective equipment.

  • Implement 5S in machine and production areas.

  • Do not operate or repair equipment without authorization/assignment.

  • Promptly report any safety hazards or equipment abnormalities.

3. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Graduated from Vocational College/College/University in: Electromechanical, Electrical – Electronics, Mechanical, Automation, Machine Engineering, Plastic Engineering Technology, or related fields.

Experience

  • Preference for candidates with 1–3 years of experience in injection molding machine operation or engineering/maintenance at a plastic manufacturing plant.

  • Experience operating hydraulic or electric injection molding machines.

  • Experience in setting up, adjusting machine parameters, mold changing, and machine setup is an advantage.

  • Ability to handle basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understand the operating principles of injection molding machines and the injection molding process.

  • Possess basic knowledge of injection molds.

  • Ability to read technical drawings, electrical diagrams, and use measuring tools is an advantage.

  • Ability to analyze causes and troubleshoot machine problems.

  • Careful, responsible, adheres to procedures and safety standards.

  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with relevant departments.

  • Willingness to work shifts as per production requirements.

4. SELECTION CRITERIA

Candidates will be prioritized if they have:

  • Direct experience operating injection molding machines, machine setup, and mold changing.

  • Experience in troubleshooting product defects and optimizing molding parameters.

  • Experience with engineering plastics such as PP, ABS, PA, POM, PC, PBT, PPS, PVC, Surlyn or equivalent.

  • Experience in injection molding machine maintenance.

  • Knowledge of PLC, inverters, servos, hydraulics, or pneumatics.

  • Experience in manufacturing plastic components for sanitary equipment, electrical – electronics, automotive, or related industries.

5. KPI EVALUATION

  • Machine stable operation rate and downtime.

  • Scrap rate due to operational errors.

  • First-pass yield rate after initial setup.

  • Actual output compared to plan.

  • Troubleshooting time.

  • Maintenance plan completion rate.

  • Compliance level with safety and 5S.

  • Material and energy consumption according to norms.

6. AUTHORITY

  • Propose machine shutdown when detecting safety hazards or potential damage to equipment or products.

  • Propose machine parameter adjustments within authorized limits.

  • Propose repairs, maintenance, or component replacement when abnormalities are detected.

  • Propose solutions for improving machinery, molds, and production processes.
